Citation pattern of social science authors has been studied taking the citations of the Sociological Review (Vol. 13, Nos. 1, 2, & 3) as the sample. Some of the conclusions arrived at are - (i) the thought-content of the article and the bibliographic habits of authors are the determining factors for the citation of a paper, (ii) books are cited more than any other form of document, viz. serials reports, theses, etc., (iii) of the documents cited 96.4% pertain to English and the rest pertain to German revealing that the authors hardly study or consult non-English publications, (iv) 75.7% of the citations belong to the period of previous 10 years.en_US
