Title: The story of DTO (Dansk Teknisk Oplysningst Jeneste) Danish technical information service

Abstract: To get a clear picture of the working of the DTO, it is necessary to have an idea of the country itself. Denmark is a small country covering an area of 43,000 sq. km (16,000 sq. miles) with a population of 4.7 million. In any country with this small size of population, changing the country's economy from agricultural to industrial base means, essentially, creation of new demands for new products and services. From the point of view of an industry, in a free and competitive economy, this means satisfying demands for goods and services making profit all the time. This, we believe, can be ensured only by the application of science or new knowledge to industry.
