Abstract: | A large number of articles by Indian authors are published in foreign scientific periodicals. A study of about 750 periodicals which were covered in the Insdoc list of 1964 Shows that 1406 such articles were published in one year. Subject-wise distribution shows that there were 364 articles in Chemistry, 323 in Physics, 175 in Medicine and 110 in Mathematics. The first three periodicals accepting largest number of such articles were the Physical review (75), Nuovo Cimento (50) and Nuclear Physics (45). One particular point is emphasized as a cause that is the non-availability of specialized periodicals, within the country, in many developing subject-so Fallow regions where new periodicals may be started or where existing general periodicals may be split are mentioned. |
