| Abstract: | Calls for greater co-operation and coordination amongst the libraries and documentation centres in India in view of our dependence on foreign literature and rapid growth of world literature. Union catalogue of periodicals is a basic tool for planning such national co-operation. A model is presented for the quick compilation and revision of a union catalogue on 80-column punch-card. Out of 80 columns only 60 columns have been used, as library holdings have not been taken into consideration in this model. Detailed analysis of work relating to coding, punching and programming of the sorter, collator and tabulator machines have been presented. |
