dc.description.abstractMany library buildings are to be put up in India. Their design should be functional and as for open access. Quiet should be provided for readers and cubicles for research workers. Department of Library Science and Seminar and group discussion rooms should be provided. A modular unit of one meter or three feet should be adopted for internal dimensions. Standard units are prescribed for area per reader, number of volumes per square meter in stack-room, counter and all the fittings and furniture. Dry construction should be used to provide for mobility of arrangement of rooms etc.en_US
