The aim of this paper is to briefly discuss, the available models for evaluating the reliability of software, along with their assumptions/limitations. This assessment shall finally give a step-by-step procedure for fitting a model to software failure data in order to obtain estimates of performance measures like undetected errors, mean time between failures and software reliability. This approach will help in deciding, whether the system is ready for release, or how much more testing still needs to be done?en_US
