| Abstract: | In class-II sedimentation, the removal efficiency of suspended solids depends on the type of waste. To explore the effect of the nature of the suspended materials and initial suspended solids concentration column settling tests have been conducted for two different types of chemical fIocs and two different types of wastes containing the organic solids. A model has been developed for predicting the percentage removal at any time for a given column depth and initial suspended solids concentration. Another model has also been developed to predict the overall percentage removal in relation to the column depth, overflow rate and initial suspended solid concentrations. |
