Abstract: Nine types of suspended materials varying widely in their characters have been considered in this study to explore the effect of the suspended solids concentration and their characteristics on turbidity measurements. Expressions have been developed for the different types of suspended materials relating the turbidity with suspended solids concentration and their characteristics. Such expressions can also be used to determine the suspended solids concentration through turbidity measurement-which is a simple, rapid and more convenient method compared to the cumbersome, tiring and time consumingg ravimetricm ethod of estimation of suspendeds olidsc oncentration.
