Abstract: Termites pose serious problems to unprotected timber and wooden structures in the buildings. Annual estimates of losses due to termite and expenditures on their control run into billions of dollars, all over the world. The problems in this direction have increased many folds with the ban on organochlorine insecticides which were mainstay of the termite control industry for over fifty years. This article describes the problems associated with termite control and strategies to overcome them.
