| Abstract: | A facile one pot pathway has been developed for the synthesis of novel 1-(aralkyl/aryl)-3-(alky/aralkyl/aryl)-5-oxo-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydroquinazolirles 2a-e and 1-(aralkyl/aryl)-3-(alkyl/aralkyl/ary1)-7,7-dimethy1-5-oxo-1,2.3,4,5,6,7.8- octahydroquinazolines 2f-k by the cyclocondensation of cyclic enaminones la-d with formaldehyde and primary amines in refluxing methanol in good yields. |
