dc.description.abstract3-Formyl-2H-[1]-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-benzopyrans 1a-d on treatment with N-benzoyl glycine in the presence of sodium acetate and acetic anhydride give 4-[1-(2H-[1]-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-benzopyran-3-yl)methylidene]-2-phenyl-4H-oxazol-5-ones 2a-d which upon treatment with 4,7-dimethyl 6-coumarin hydrazine hydrochloride/phenyl hydrazine give 2-[4,7-dimethyl 2H-[1]-2-oxo-benzopyran-6-yl]/pheny1-5-[1-(2H - [1]-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-benzopyran-3-yl)methylidene]-3-phenyl-2,5-dihydro -1H-[1,2,4] triazine-6-ones 3a-h. Acetylation of 3a-h gave 1-acetyl-2-[4,7-dimethyl 2H-[1]-2-oxo-benzopyran-6-yl]/phenyl- 5-[2H-[1]-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-benzopyran-3-yl] rnethylidene]-3-phenyl-[1,2,4]-triazine-6-ones 4a-h. The structures of all these compounds have been established on the basis of the spectral and analytical data. All compounds have been screened for their antimicrobial activity and have been found to exhibit significant activity. en_US
