| Abstract: | A simple and efficient protocol for the chemo-selective reduction of substituted nitroarenes to corresponding anilines in good yields using inexpensive commercial zinc dust and triethylammonium formate in water at ambient temperature and pressure is established. Many other reducible functional groups like methoxy, methyl, ester, nitrile, amide, acid, phenol and halogens are unaltered with the present systems. |
