Abstract: The solvent-extraction and carrier facilitated transport of Li+, Na +, K +, Ca2+ have been carried out using pentaethylene glycol as carrier in chloroform, dichloroethane and carbontetrachloride solvent with bulk liquid membrane system. Picrate, dinitrophenolate, ortbonitrophenolate and thiocyanate have been used as anions. General trend observed for extraction of cations is K+ > Li+ > Na+, Na+ is transported to a greater extent than K+, Carbon tetrachloride proved to be the poorest solvent in both extraction and transport studies.
