| Abstract: | Extraction of Zn(II) and Cd(ll) from aqueous HCl and H2SO4 solution (0.1-1 M) by Cyanex 301 and 302 is maximum at 0.1 M and thereafter decreases with increase in acidity. The separation of Cd(II) and Zn(II) is achieved by Cyanex 302 at 1 M H2S04, Extraction of Zn(ll) from pH media (pH 1 to 6) by 10% (v/v) Cyanex 272 and mixture of 5% (v/v) TBP and 5% (v/v) Cyanex 272 in hexane increases with increase in pH and becomes quantitative at pH 3. Analysis of test samples such as Moore cake, zinc concentrate, zinc effluent and high temperature solder have been carried out and good agreement has been observed. |
