Reaction conditions for the synthesis of naftifine [(E) - N-cinnamyl-N-methyl-N-l-naphthylmethylamine), an allyl amine anti-mycotic has been standardized. The effect of catalyst on the yield of the product has been evaluated. Moreover, phase transfer catalysis has been successfully used in the synthesis of naftifine.en_US
