| Abstract: | The results of a study on manufacturing of needle-punched nonwoven filters from polyester staple fibre, to meet the specifications achieved in imported filters, show that calendering of needle-punched material helps to achieve the compactness and air permeability specifications. Increase in calender pressure decreases the fabric thickness and air permeability up to a point after which there is not much change. Heat setting of the filter brings down its thermal shrinkage and elongation at low load to a level close to the specifications. |
