| Abstract: | The effects of the depth of needle penetration (DNP) and needling density (ND) on the physical properties of needle-punched nonwovens made from acrylic fibres have been studied. It is found that with the increase in ND and DNP, the tenacity, initial modulus and tensile and compressional resilience increase while the breaking elongation decreases. The air permeability first decreases and then increases with increase in NO and DNP The application of the Box and Hunter's central rotatable design in engineering a needle-punched nonwoven is pointed out. |
