dc.description.abstract3-Methyl-1-oxo-1H, 5H-pyrido[1, 2-a]benzimidazole-4-carbonitrile was formylated to its 2-formyl derivative and condensed with different active methylene carboxylic acids and nitriles to get substituted pyrano[3', 2':5, 6]pyrido[1, 2-a]benzimidazoles. These brilliant dyes when applied on polyester fibres gave yellow shades with greenish fluorescence having moderate light fastness and good sublimation fastness.en_US
