| dc.description.abstract | High α-cellulose pulp was extracted from two fast growing plants, viz. Leucaena leucocephala (a perennial plant) and Hibiscus cannabinus (an annual plant), and then esterified with mono- and tri-carboxylic acid anhydrides following a homogeneous esterification procedure. The physico-chemical properties of the esterified products obtained were studied and the products were characterized using IR and PMR techniques. The esterified products obtained from the α-cellulose of above plants showed properties similar to those of esters prepared from commercially available rayon-grade pulp. | en_US |
