The properties of twisted textured continuous filament yarns and equally bulked zero twist filament yarns have been compared. The twisted yarns show higher tenacity and stability after texturing than the equally bulked zero twist yarns. Twisted air-jet textured yarns have a compact yarn structure with reduced core diameter and loop size and show lower creep strain and higher recovered strain. During texturing, whereas the twisted yarns as also the equally bulked zero twist yarns show similar tension levels in the delivery zone of the jet, the former show higher tension levels in the stabilizing zone, thus resulting in textured yarns with equal physical bulk and higher structural stability. The higher tenacity of twisted textured yarns is reflected in their fabrics which show higher tensile strength, bursting strength and abrasion resistance. The compact structure of twisted textured yarns result in fabrics with higher tear strength. The twisted textured yarn fabrics, when compared with the equally bulked zero twist yarn fabrics, show comparable air permeability and higher compressional resilience and wrinkle rating.en_US
