| Abstract: | A method to simulate the cone drum function through a microprocessor-based electronic circuitry is described. The advantages and disadvantages of the system are dealt with. With a slight modification in the bobbin geometry, the scope is indicated for increasing the speed of the fly frame, saving in space and energy, and reduction in noise. The details of the electronic circuitry used to simulate the bobbin build-up in a fly frame are also given. The cone drums are eliminated by a suitable combination of ac and dc drives and logic circuits. The electronic circuitry effectively simulated the hyperbolic speed profile in actual laboratory trials. The study opens up a new area in India of bringing electronic automation into the roving frame. |
