Abstract: A bar carrying separating rods has been designed to produce siro-spun yarns on a ring-spinning frame. Many siro-spun and normal ring-spun yarns were produced with and without using the rods under the same conditions. Siro-spun yarns showed higher tenacities and better evenness than normal yarns. A slight improvement in ply yarn tenacities and better lea count strength product for siro-spun yarns are reported. Siro-spun yarns could replace efficiently ply yarns because of considerable cost savings.
