The effect of fibre length on the quality of rotor-spun yam was studied in the case of viscose rayon by spinning it on three different rotor diameters. The optimum fibre length for maximum tenacity was around 30 mm. The optimum fibre length for minimum irregularity depended on rotor diameter and could be calculated by dividing the rotor diameter by a factor of 1.44.en_US
