| Abstract: | A polycondensate prepared from shellac, ethyleneglycol, maleic anhydride, and phthalic anhydride was found useful as a durable antistatic and soil release agent for polyester fabric when applied in conjunction with diethanolamine and diammonium hydrogen orthophosphate. The application of the finish improved the hydrophilicity and breaking strength of the fabric, whereas its air permeability remained unchanged and the tear strength showed marginal deterioration. |
