Abstract: Torsional rigidity at low deformations and stress-strain relationships of Chokla and Rambouillet wools were determined at various humidities. The variation of stress with humidity differed in these two wools. Stress decreased with humidity and the rate of decrease was higher in Chokla fibres than in Rambouillet fibres. A comparison of the mechanical properties of these two wools showed that Chokla fibres could have a relatively high proportion of water-accessible sites and a differing microfibril composition.
