Improvements in yarn quality and fabric appearance from Tandem carding for a range of mill mixings have been assessed. While the card waste increases, the card cleaning efficiency improves distinctly with Tandem card, which is reflected in reduced incidence of kitties in the yarn and fabric. Lea CSP and Uster U % of yarn are not much affected, but the nep level and thick places come down significantly. The yarn appearance improves by 0.5-1 ASTM grade from Tandem carding, particularly with coarse and medium mixings. Noil savings are also feasible at combing because of the improved carding quality from Tandem carding. The appearance of fabric at both the grey and dyed stages also shows a noticeable improvement.en_US
