The results of a study on the designing of a link pick mechanism using the four-bar linkage principle are presented. An optimum combination of the dimensions of various links of the mechanism was arrived at with the help of a computer. The link pick mechanism was designed and fabricated for an automatic loom in the pilot mill of the Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association. It was then evaluated in comparison with the original shoe type mechanism under dynamic conditions at different speeds using electronic instrumentation which confirmed that link pick mechanism is efficient in imparting a linear motion to the picker at higher speeds.en_US
