| Abstract: | The static charge build-up and the rate of decay of charge accumulated on polyester fabric treated with four commercial durable antistatic agents were studied. The treated fabrics at comparable add-on levels differ widely in static charge build-up, decay time, wash fastness and hydrophilicity. While some antistats improve soil removal, others increase soiling and soil retention. The gross structural features have been deduced from IR and NMR spectra of the antistats and structure-property correlations have been attempted. |
