| Abstract: | The bundle tenacity at 0 in gauge length has been determined for ten samples of wool using the Stelometer at 20, 40, 65, 80 and 96% relative humidities (RH). From the data obtained, a regression formula has been worked out, so that the bundle tenacity at the standard RH of 65% can be estimated from the tenacity determined at any ambient condition. The tenacity is, in general, found to decrease at the rate of about 0.5% of its value extrapolated to 0%, RH for every unit rise in RH%. When the effect of weight increase due to moisture sorption is eliminated from the observed tenacity, the above rate is found to decrease to about 0.3%. |
