Tasar silk yarn and cloth were degummed and bleached, and separately dyed with acid and treated with an optical brightener. Exposure of the dyeing to sunlight for different periods has been shown to bring about photochemical degradation of the fibre as assessed in terms of cup ammonium fluidity and breaking strength. The extent of this degradation has been related to the extent of dye fading occurring during the exposure. en_US
