The fabric performance of single stage rapid-cure resin finishing using DMDHEU-mixed catalyst system reported earlier [Doshi, S. M. & Chattopadhyay, D. K., Indian J. Text. Res., 2 (1977),] at different levels of resin application has been compared with that of the normally recommended steam-cure technique as well as the conventional pad-dry-cure route using MgCI2.6H2O as the catalyst. The results obtained indicate that such a rapid-cure technique for crosslinking of cellulosic fabrics can be an industrially viable process for obtaining satisfactory levels of wrinkle recovery and favourable balance of wrinkle-recovery/tensile properties of the treated fabric. The main limitations of the single stage rapid-cure technique would be the requirement of about 25% more of the crosslinking agent for the same level of wrinkle resistance achievable in the conventional two-stage processing and somewhat stricter control of the different processing parameters required when using such a highly active catalyst system as compared to the pad-dry-cure technique of application using metal salt as the catalyst.en_US
