A simple method for the determination of thermal insulation values (TIV) of fabrics made of jute and its blends with other fibres is described. TIV has been found to be related to the thickness of the fabric, the basis weight and the number of layers of the fabric. The air spaces within the fabric and between the body and the fabric are also important. Increase in any of these factors increases TIV. The nature of the fibre has a marginal effect on TIV.en_US
