Title: A New Method for Producing All-Wool Stretch Yarns
Authors: Sengupta, A. K.
Issue Date: Sep-1976
Publisher: NISCAIR-CSIR, India
Abstract: A new method for producing torque textured wool yarns is presented. The method involves the use of alcohol-water mixtures for weakening the intermolecular forces followed by a high level of torque deformation. It is postulated that breaking and reformation of disulphide bonds along with rearrangement of hydrogen bonds through a process of relaxation bring about stabilization of the deformed structure. A high degree of stretch without loss in tensile strength is reported.
