Abstract: Refractive turbulence structure constant (C) has been studied for the first time in India from the intensity of observed clear air radar echoes. Profiles of C have been determined from observations made at the MST radar situated near Tirupati (13.47°N, 79.1°E). The radar measurements of C have been compared with the model Cn2. It is found that the magnitude and variation of C with height, and day to day variations of observed and model refractivity constant agree fairly well. Thus, vertical profiles of C with good height and time resolutions can be measured with sensitive Doppler radars.
