It is initially argued that the radio refractivity index (RRI) in the evening would invariably differ from that in the morning because of qualitative difference in the dynamical stability in the two periods of a day. In the present paper a statistical study of the difference of these two values, i.e. semidiurnal variation of radio refractivity index (SVRRI), has been carried out. A particular set of values of SVRRI over three full years in three different altitudes, one near the ground and the other two presumably above the inversion layer, has been selected for investigation. It has been observed that seasonal effect on SVRRI in the upper layer is negligible as against that in the surface layer. It has also been noted that just preceding monsoon SVRRI becomes highly random, as compared to the other seasons. This findings has also been confirmed from the calculations of fractal dimensions of the respective time series of SVRRI of the seasons.en_US
