Abstract: Application of computer methodology for separating individual plumes recorded in an imagery (facsimile) through a monostatic acoustic radar is discussed. Acoustic imagery of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) was composed with the combination of range and intensity information in echogram and then digitized by a video camera. The digitized data were preprocessed for removal of noises and stored in a computer. A computer algorithm was developed for the separation of individual plumes and the results obtained therefrom were compared for the plume behaviours at Calcutta and Varanasi.
