Abstract: Water vapour presumably plays an important role in controlling the propagation parameters. Out of the parameters, group delay depends on refractivity and, in turn, depends on water vapour pressure. The study of extent of dominance of water vapour on refractivity has been undertaken in this paper. Relative contribution of refractivity at different heights towards group delay has been estimated. Refractivity value at around 2-3 km has been found to be best correlated with group delay, mostly depending on the presence of water vapour in the lower atmosphere.
