This paper covers two subjects: (i) the development of a new family of balloon films over the last half decade, and (ii) a new design variation which provides balloon flight stabilization. It is shown that new polyethylene resins have made possible the production of significantly improved balloon films from a variety of sources. An old concept, the 'sky anchor', has been updated and shows promise of producing stable, long duration flight using little or no ballast.en_US
