Using a plate antenna the electrostatic field changes due to lightning discharges of overhead thunderstorms were recorded at Roorkee (lat., 29.52° N; long., 77.53°E) for the summer months of 1983-84. The records have been analyzed to obtain statistical distribution of the variation of electric field change with time, the flash rate, the interflash time interval, the charge moment destroyed and the field reversal distance.en_US
