Monthly data of the total number of mental patients admitted during the period 1960-78 into the Mental Care Hospital at Waltair were collected and categorized into schizophrenia, mania and epileptic cases. Correlations of these various cases with sunspot numbers (R2)and geomagnetic activity, ∑Kp, were carried out. The correlation coefficients indicate that the total number of cases and the mania cases were influenced by sunspot activity, schizophrenia cases were not influenced by sunspot or geomagnetic activity, while epileptic cases were influenced both by sunspot and geomagnetic activity.en_US
