Four separate but similar indices of geomagnetic activity Kp, Kn, K8, and KA (K indices of Alibag) representative of different regions of the globe are compared for their response characteristics in association with the passage of solar magnetic sector boundary past the earth. Worldwide nature of the influence of IMP polarity on geomagnetic activity and the details of some major differences are brought out using, for analysis, both the magnitude and occurrence frequencies of the indices. Some aspects of the hemispheric differences in geomagnetic activity are also indicated.en_US
