Abstract: Unani Medicine has given excellent explanation of sex determination; it is based on the distinguishing concept of Mizāj. It is Ḥār Miz̄aj (hot temperament) of Nuṭfa that is responsible for male gender. The Nuṭfa results from fusion of male and female semen and these are produced by testes and ovary. Ḥār Miz̄aj semen can be obtained from Ḥār Miz̄aj gonads which can be achieved by using Ḥār Miz̄aj drugs. A Ḥār Miz̄aj Unani polyformulation was administered to 23 couples having only female children. Twenty two couples bore male child.
