The salp Thalia democratica was found to feed on Chaetoceros sp. continuously during the entire experimental period of 24 hours. The rate of consumption (0.09-0.16%.animal(-1).h(-1)), however, did not differ significantly. Faecal output also followed a similar trend (0.073-0.0 98%.animal-1.h(-1)). Food concentration, thus, did not influence the grazing rate of this species.en_US
