A study is made of the altitudinal variations of average daytime scale heights and of the latitudinal dependence of transition levels in scale heights. The values of the scale heights and the transition levels are obtained from In N versus h plots using Alouette-I data. Certain interesting conclusions are arrived at regarding variations of scale height with sunspot activity, scale height transition level variations, fractional increase in scale heights during disturbed days, and latitudinal variations of the altitudes at which scale height transitions and minimum scale height occur.en_US
