Abstract: Results of a study of satellite scintillation of 40 MHz signals as observed during October 1976-May 1972 at Kurukshetra (29.9° N, 76.8°E) are presented. Scintillation thought predominantly a night-time phenomenon, shows a weak day-time maximum, the exact time position of which is found to be season-dependent. Scintillation Index (S. I.) correlates negatively with foF2; with kp a negative correlation in day-time only is observable; with sunspot number, available data show a negative correlation in day-time. S. I. and the intensity of spread-F seem to correlate with each other. Scintillation-producing irregularities are found to be occurring in horizontal extent most frequently in the range 1.08-1.4 km. Some large scale irregularities (over which scintillation-producing irregularities are scintillation-producing irregularities are superimposed) are seen to persist for about 2 hr and one such irregularity is observed to drift with a speed of 65.9 m sec-1.
