Using the simplified ray theory of diffraction, a method has been evolved for the design of a paraboloidal zone plate antenna when a plane wave is incident on its convex side. It has been found that, for the same number of zones, the paraboloidal zone plate has a smaller aperture size and a better focusing property than that of either the spherical or the plane zone plate.en_US
