| Abstract: | The variation in short term mean duration of a lightning flash was examined by means of the corresponding noise bursts, continuously during the occurrence of overhead storms. The cell structure of a thundercloud is reflected in the variation of mean duration with the activity of the thundercloud. The mean occupation time and the noise burst rate are found to be highly correlated, making possible the prediction of the former for a given noise burst rate. |
