Abstract: A model for the generation and amplification of geomapetic micropulsation in the frequency range 0.1-5.0 Hz (Pc 1) has been proposed. It is suggested that when a beam of protons of energy range 100-1000keV interacts with left hand circularly polarized waves propagating in the magnetosphere, an instability is produced in the region of interaction and there is natural emission of Pc 1 signals at the frequency of occurrence of cyclotron instability. These signals are amplified by wave-particle interaction. Maximum growth-rate has been evaluated and it is shown that it increases with the increase of streaming proton density and the pitch angle and decreases with the increase of frequency and McIlwain parameter.
