| Abstract: | A nonlinear hydrodynamic numerical model has been applied to Bombay harbour waters subjected to tidal forcing at the mouth of the harbour. Buildup of water level and associated current pattern of the circulation have been studied. Modification of flow-field due to presence of Elephanta Island in the harbour is studied by excluding and including the Island in the computational grid for a typical tidal cycle. The study brings out the utility of numerical modelling technique in estimating tidal dynamics of semi-enclosed water bodies. |
