dc.description.abstractV. vulnificus was isolated from fish and clam samples and characterised. Representative strains were found to be highly lethal to mice and also showed hemolytic activity. This suggests that virulent strains of V. vulnificus are present in fish and clams (seafood) harvested around Mangalore.en_US
